What to do with a dog during holidays? - Hotels for animals
To leave for some time, taking advantage of the beautiful summer weather, and drop the dog at one's friends' place – or in the name of love for the pet – spend holidays at home and limit oneself to walks in a park? Such is the yearly dilemma of many people.
When it's beautiful outside and the long-term weather forecast says that it isn’t going to change soon, many people start to think about a spontaneous summer trip. But what if we want to go abroad or to a place where, for sure, we won't be allowed to come with a pet?
It has to be taken into account that the climate changes, and consequently, each following holidays will be warmer and warmer and in the end everyone will start to think about taking advantage of them. Many dogs' owners don't imagine leaving for holidays without their favourite pet. For this reason they condemn themselves to staying at home or going somewhere where the dog, as a rightful member of the family, will be able to go with them. However, such people are in minority..
Many people, especially young, put their own pleasure over anything else. Then a problem arises: last minute holidays bought, plane tickets booked, suitcases nearly full, everything buttoned up...
But what with the dog?
To say nothing of the reprehensible incidents of abandoning animals or leaving them alone with a few kilogram bag of food scattered on the floor, most people’s train of thought is quite schematic – „a dog is not a kid, it can be left with someone for some time”.
And here comes an alternative – Hotels for animals. Such institutions have been functioning in our country for some time now and the competition in the market leads to more and more interesting offers at increasingly attractive prices! The cost for a day oscillates between 20 and 100 zlotys (though there are also more exclusive places) – all depends mostly on the size of our pet and reputation of the given centre. Only in Silesian Province there is a dozen or so of such hotels, their localization is best found on the internet (e.g. on the site www.hoteledlapsow.com). Our choice, however, should not be limited to the cheapest centre, because if we have decided to leave our dog, the least we can do is to care for its' comfort. It's worth the trouble to visit the hotel itself and ask to be showed around – then we can be sure that it's a good choice. Undoubtedly, the most important factor in the choice is the signing of the contract . If the hotel's owner doesn't plan to sign one, it should make us think because in practice it can mean that he shrinks from taking the responsibility for our dog. A too big number of animals taken in and bad conditions should also eliminate the hotel from our choice list. Besides, it pays to make sure what does the pens look like (f they're not too small) and if food is included in the price of our favourite’s stay in the hotel, so that when we come back we are not faced with an unpleasant surprise...
Dogs, as man's best friends, deserve decent treatment. Every owner of a pet is responsible for it and has to be aware of different consequences of his choices. If he decides to go on holidays without his favourite and to leave it in a special hotel, he should provide it with comfort (regardless of the price). It may be helpful to leave the pet with some of its' favourite toys. It may also happen that the dog „won't have time to miss the owner” thanks to interesting attractions in a given centre – even though, it should be taken into consideration that in the long run it will be happiest at his owner’s side.
