Pyrzowice without barriers!

On the 2nd February 2010 an International Aerial Harbor Katowice was considered the most handicapped-friendly Silesian place of utility in the first edition of the contest „ Katowice without limits”.

Contest was organized by Silesian University Handicapped Office, the Friends of Integration Association and the building Altus, where the awards delivery took place.

IAH Katowice in Pyrzowice was on the first place out of 14 buildings aspiring to that award. All buildings were judged with consideration of the handicapped service. The airport was appreciated for its comprehensive preparation and utility of implied solutions: the harbor is devoted of the architectonic barriers that could hinder the locomotion; it has SOS system with help of which a handicapped person can receive help, at every moment, from a qualified airport worker.

Katowice airport handling firm (which deals with a comprehensive ground airplane service: loading, unloading, upholstering, towing, cleaning the boards, handling the luggage etc.) has a special ambulift, which enables easy and skilful transport of a handicapped person on a planes board.
